St. Alphonsus, the Founder
of the Redemptorist Congregation, was the author of over 110
books. His sons have continued his love of spreading God’s
Word and Love through the printed word. The Galong Monastery
library was famous in the district for the number and variety
of its collection. Sadly, when the Monastery school closed,
many of the older books in the collection were given to the
National Library and many others sold. In recent times the remainder of the
former Monastery Library have been added to by the donations of volumes by donors interested in expanding the Irish, Irish-Australian and Australiana sections of the collection.
