In the 1940’s, a grotto
was built on the moderate rise immediately north of Spring
Creek, in view of the old Galong Castle. An annual procession
in honour of the Mother of God, which had been held in the
Galong Monastery grounds since the early 1930’s, was
re-routed to the grotto. On the first Sunday of each May,
many people come from far and wide to assemble for this annual
event. . Old Rosary Hill looks down maternally as it folds
the smaller rise and the greater throng in her ample embrace!
